I’ve worked out an organizing system (with lots of help from the 43 Folders site) using the Moleskine and standard index cards.
This might sound simple, but it’s pretty cool.
Use the Moleskine for random notes and thoughts, as normal
Get a stack of standard white index cards.
Cut a few in half to use as quick leave behind notes (or use small Post-its)
Put the half cards or Post-its in the back envelope
Label one full index card: Meetings and Appointments
Label another: To Do (or, make two, one personal one for work)
Put them both in the envelope along with a few blanks
When you put receipts in the envelope, use them to separate your blanks from your working cards.
Now, when you are in a meeting or brainstorming with yourself, jot the To Dos on your card. When you need to check to see if you can make a meeting, just check your Meetings and Appointment card. When both sides get filled up file it or chuck it and start another one.
This system is very easy, flexible and portable. Works for me.
